I’m a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the MFA program in Creative Writing at the University of Montana, where I taught composition classes and fiction workshops. I’ve worked for literary agencies and small publications, including Outside Magazine, a local newspaper in Alaska, and Yale Medicine Magazine.
Students have been accepted to Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, University of Michigan, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, UC Berkeley, NYU, MIT, Tulane, Johns Hopkins, University of Texas at Austin, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and Wesleyan University, among dozens of others.
“Ben was instrumental in getting Charles’s essays ready for prime time—amplifying his own voice and experiences for every essay and supplement. Sometimes when young people work with writing tutors, their voice can get lost, but that was not the case with Ben. He was strategic. His appropriate demands and attention to the deadlines was balanced with his sincere encouragement and joy in the process.”
